There is a general unrest about the church and the spiritual lives of Canadians in this day and age. But interestingly, even Jesus was painfully aware of the missing ingredients that compromised the spiritual lives of people in his time.
Once, when asked what is the most important thing in life, he offered this vision: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength (Mark 12:30).
Jesus’ vision is so great and so profound that it sums up the very purpose for our existence in one short sentence. It also offers us a way to live the fullest possible lives.
But words are just words if they don’t change us… if they don’t touch our hearts and our minds and return us to what is significant and spirit filled. God can move us in ways we couldn‘t possibly imagine on our own. God offers us a relationship and a wonderful life-journey of great importance if we allow it.
And this is where the church comes in. We are all invited to join together to worship… because at it’s core, worship is about loving God. In worship, God extends love to us and we respond by loving God in return. Jesus calls us to worship God with all that we are.
Worship is an encounter with God that engages us intellectually (mind), emotionally (soul), volitionally (heart), and physically (strength). And this is what happens at St. James… and we do it together feeling God touching us and leading us in incredible ways.
Perhaps this invitation to join us at St. James is touching you and leading you to come and worship your God. Or perhaps you would like to visit us via the Pastor’s Blog. If there is something you would like to hear or need to ask this is the way to stay connected!
Welcome to our new website! I’d love to hear from you!
God’s blessings to you,
